Cheap Printer Cartridges Deskjet Canon Lexmark
Inexpensive Inkjet Printers Are Worth a Look
If your printing needs are modest, is there really any need to spend a lot of money for a high-end machine? Maybe not, when you consider the kind of quality you can get for cheap.
Can you afford $100? If so, the HP Deskjet 5150 just might meet all of your needs. Though you might see a bit of spattering, the Deskjet 5150 prints black text that looks sharp. You'll be able to print impressive color photos when you buy the additional photo-ink cartridge, selling for about $25. The photos the Deskjet 5150 produces are crisp and clear, making it one of the most popular printers in its price range.
Of course, products are cheap for various reasons. In the case of the Deskjet 5150, there are a few drawbacks. To print quality photos you must switch cartridges, because the printer has room for only two at a time. And if you need a bypass tray for envelopes, this is the wrong printer - it doesn't have one. But the printer does provide good value for the price. You could pay more for more features and still get the same production quality. So if you want only the features the Deskjet 5150 has, then you'll likely be happy with the results you get.
Now if you really want to go rock bottom cheap, the Canon Inkjet Pixma iPl500 at $50 can take you there. Despite the low price, the printer produces text that is clear, even when using tiny fonts. Photos also look sharp. One disadvantage is that the printer has no output tray. So you will have to catch the paper on a table, a minor inconvenience for the low cost.
The Lexmark Z615 has a price similar to the Canon, but doesn't match the quality, especially with photos. This compact printer fits well into a small space, so if that's part of your criteria it could be worth considering. The Z615 text production is reasonable, but the photos will not impress you. If you're staying in the $50 range, the Canon is the best pick.
Before making your purchase consider both your present and future needs. If you foresee needing fine quality text or photo results not far down the road, then you might want to look at some higher end models.
Also think about how replacement cartridges make the long term cost of inkjets far more than the initial outlay. Laser printers easily provide far greater value on cost per page of printing. The price of lasers is considerably more, but low maintenance costs more than evens the score over time.
Of course, a color laser goes into a still higher price range, so if you're a casual user determined to print both text and photos, the cheap inkjet makes sense. Besides, the way technology is moving, a big investment today could look bad tomorrow as new features hit the market.
