Publisher Will Donate $1 Per Book to Help Kids Get Books

June 14, 2004 -- Kids love books, but not every family can afford them. Marion Street Press, Inc. wants to help. The small publisher is donating a cut of its sales to First Book, a national nonprofit organization that provides new books to children from low-income families.

Marion Street Press, which specializes in books that help writers and journalists do their jobs better, will donate $1 to First Book for every book sold during the month of July 2004. Books sold through consumer bookstores, web stores such as Amazon.com, and through the company’s website, www.marionstreetpress.com, will count.

"It's a shame when children who want to read can’t get books, and First Book does a great deal to help improve that situation," says Ed Avis, publisher of Marion Street Press, Inc. "We're happy we can help First Book in its mission."

Over the past three years First Book has distributed over 20 million new books to children in need in hundreds of communities nationwide. For more information about First Book, visit www.firstbook.org.
